Former Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright Confirmed as U.S. Energy Secretary
Chris Brown, the former CEO of Liberty Energy, has been confirmed as the new U.S. Energy Secretary. Brown, who previously served on the boards of Oklo Inc. and EMX Royalty Corp., succeeds Jennifer Granholm. He gained attention in 2019 for drinking fracking fluid to demonstrate its safety.
Brown supports an 'all the above' approach to energy, advocating for the use of natural gas, coal, nuclear, hydropower, solar, wind, and geothermal sources. He believes that increasing fossil fuel production can help address poverty. Brown has testified against the SEC's climate change disclosure rule, deeming it 'unlawful'.
As the former CEO of Liberty Energy, North America's second-largest hydraulic fracturing company, Brown has extensive experience in the energy sector. He has also served on the boards of companies involved in nuclear technology and mineral mining rights.
Chris Brown's confirmation as U.S. Energy Secretary brings a new perspective to the role, with a focus on diverse energy sources and addressing poverty through increased fossil fuel production. His appointment signals a shift in energy policy, moving away from the previous administration's focus on climate change.
