France, Italy Top EU Beer Imports; Germany Leads Production
France and Italy lead the EU in beer imports, with 0.8 billion litres and 0.7 billion litres respectively in 2024. Meanwhile, Germany tops EU production with 7.2 billion litres, and the Netherlands remains the leading exporter despite a decrease.
Eurostat reports a 0.2 per cent increase in high-alcohol beer production to 32.7 billion litres in 2024. Low-alcohol beer production also surges, reaching 2 billion litres with an 11.1 per cent increase in demand.
In the export rankings, the Netherlands retains the top spot with 1.5 billion litres, despite a 12 per cent decrease from 2023. Consistently strong performers in global exports include the Czech Republic and Belgium, with the Czech Republic ranking fifth worldwide in 2023.
The EU's beer market shows resilience with increased production and stable imports. France and Italy lead in imports, while Germany dominates production. The Netherlands remains the top exporter, despite a decrease in volume.
