Gas prices in Ontario to decrease by 10 cents following a recent increase.

In a welcome relief for drivers across Ontario, gas prices are expected to drop by 10 cents on Thursday, bringing the cost down to 133.9 cents a litre. This seasonal change is due to the switch from summer to winter gas blends, as revealed by Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy.

The switch from summer to winter gas blends happens twice a year, once in mid-April and the other in mid-September. During the summer, gasoline becomes more volatile and requires additives like alkylates to be more resistant to evaporation. However, in the winter, gas stations use a cheaper by-product, butane, instead of alkylates. The difference in price between butane and alkylates is substantial, resulting in lower gas prices during the colder months.

McTeague urges drivers to wait until Thursday to fill up their tanks, especially in major cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, London, and Hamilton, to maximize savings. He advises going to the gas station from 6 p.m. to midnight, as gas stations tend to surrender their profit margin in the evening, often resulting in savings of 4 to 6 cents a litre on any given day.

Interestingly, McTeague has noticed that certain gas stations in the Ontario area are suspiciously cheap in the evening, with gasoline prices around 127.9 cents per liter, which are significantly lower than the morning or afternoon prices. However, he did not mention any specific gas station names.

This drop in gas price is not a permanent reduction, it is a seasonal change. Around $6 or $7 will be saved by most drivers who are pumping in 50 to 60 litres of gas due to the drop in price.

It's important to note that this news does not contain any information about current gas prices or new rules or regulations regarding the gas industry. Also, there are no reports of jobs, stabbings, bears, blue boxes, airline issues, wage offers, or sexual charges associated with this news.

So, if you're a driver in Ontario, make sure to fill up your tank after supper time this Thursday to save on your fuel costs!
