Gazprom faces possible legal action from FAS over alleged price hike of gasoline in Tyumen
The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has launched an investigation into Gazpromneft - Regional Sales LLC for suspected antimonopoly violations, following reports of unjustified price increases in the Tyumen region. According to the FAS's website, the overpricing of gasoline in the Tyumen region has been a cause for concern. The cost of AI-92 gasoline, for instance, rose by one ruble over a three-week period, reaching 56.90 rubles on August 18. AI-95 gasoline, meanwhile, was priced between 62.85 rubles. The FAS has been monitoring fuel prices in the regions, including the Tyumen region, and their investigation into Gazpromneft was prompted by these price increases. The company is accused of raising fuel prices at certain gas stations in the region. In response, the FAS issued a warning to Gazpromneft on August 5, 2023, and later reported the overpricing on their website. If the violation is not eliminated, an antimonopoly case may be initiated against the company. The press service of the FAS stated that the actions of Gazpromneft contain signs of violating antimonopoly legislation. The company has been ordered to eliminate the antimonopoly violation by September 29. This is not the first time the FAS has taken action against Gazpromneft. On August 5, the FAS issued a warning to the company LUKOIL in the Tyumen region for similar price increases. The FAS of Russia continues to monitor the situation regarding fuel prices in the regions, and has reacted swiftly to the overpricing of gasoline in the Tyumen region. The investigation into Gazpromneft is ongoing, and the company is under close scrutiny to ensure compliance with antimonopoly legislation.
