Harz Narrow-Gauge Railways Hike Prices Again, Brocken Trip Now 65 Euros

Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB), the operator of narrow-gauge railways in the Harz region, is raising ticket prices for the second time this year. The company is facing significantly increased costs across all business areas, with a round trip to the Brocken set to increase from 55 to 65 euros from October 8, 20XX.

The HSB, which needs nearly 800 million euros in investment costs and subsidies by 2045, had already increased prices in March this year. The latest hike will affect all travel offers, with no specific details available about the company that implemented the change twice this year. While there's no direct information linking Deutsche Bahn or related entities to this price change, they have been involved in railway ticket price changes in Germany.

Supervisory board chairman Thomas Balcerowski has described the company's situation as highly critical, indicating the need for these price increases to cover rising costs.

From October 8, 20XX, a round trip to the Brocken will cost 65 euros, a 10-euro increase from last year. The HSB's second price hike this year reflects the company's need to manage significantly increased costs across all business areas.
