Jeroen Eijsink, a seasoned logistics and transport professional with over 25 years of international experience, has been appointed as the new CEO of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), effective from 1 October.

Eijsink's tenure at HHLA will mark a new chapter for the company, which is located in Hamburg, as he takes over from Angela Titzrath. His appointment follows an agreement reached by the HHLA supervisory board.

The Dutch national brings a clear vision for efficiency and innovation to HHLA, which is expected to strengthen the company in a crucial phase of further development. Eijsink's extensive hands-on leadership experience in global logistics, spanning various major European markets, positions him well for this role.

Before joining HHLA, Eijsink held significant leadership roles at Siemens, Deutsche Post DHL, C.H. Robinson, and Girteka Group. At Siemens, he gained early experience in technology and digital transformation. In Deutsche Post DHL, he held CEO positions for DHL Freight Germany and DHL Freight Benelux & UK, leading freight operations in major European markets.

At C.H. Robinson, Eijsink drove the expansion of the European business, and most recently, he led the strategic realignment of logistics company Girteka Group as its CEO.

Rüdiger Grube, the supervisory board chairman, commented on Eijsink's appointment, stating that he is an internationally experienced leader with a deep understanding of global logistics.

It's important to note that the change in HHLA's CEO does not seem to be related to the entry of MSC, the world's largest shipping company, into HHLA. The Port of Hamburg Beteiligungsgesellschaft SE, a joint venture of the City of Hamburg and MSC, became the majority shareholder of HHLA at the end of last year.

Titzrath is not involved in the preparation of the MSC entry into HHLA. The City of Hamburg, another shareholder in HHLA, will continue to play a significant role in the company's future.

Eijsink, a 52-year-old individual, is expected to bring his proven track record in leading and transforming complex organizations to HHLA, with a focus on operational efficiency, innovation, and international growth within the logistics sector.

  1. Under Eijsink's leadership, it is anticipated that HHLA's employment policies will prioritize efficiency, innovation, and international growth, aligning with his extensive experience in the logistics industry.
  2. As HHLA moves towards further development, Eijsink's financial acumen, gained from his experience in global businesses and the finance sector, will be instrumental in shaping the community policy and strategic decisions for the company.
