Hormel Foods Appoints John Ghingo as President; Jeffrey Ettinger Takes Role as Interim CEO
Food juggernaut Hormel Foods Corporation (HRL) just dropped a bombshell announcement on Monday! Their latest pick for the presidency reigns supreme - John Ghingo, set to step into the role on July 14, 2025. And get this - he'll join the board of directors while he's at it, too.
Ghingo's got some credentials to back up his bold title, spending 15 years climbing the ranks at Mondelez International. He's also no stranger to Hormel, having served as the big cheese (pun intended) at Applegate Farms, LLC, a Hormel sub-brand, between 2018 and 2022.
In his new post, Ghingo will round up Hormel's Retail, Foodservice, and International business segments like a pro, while also helming global operations, supply chain, research, and development, and corporate strategy. Right now, he's the EVP of Retail for Hormel, stomping his ground with the company's largest business unit.
But before Ghingo takes the stage, Jeffrey Ettinger will hold the 'acting' title, stepping back into Hormel's sphere for a limited 15-month stint as interim CEO. Ever the dedicated community supporter, Ettinger has been a member of the Hormel board and holds the post of chairman of The Hormel Foundation, one of the biggest community foundations in Minnesota.
Ettinger has had a whopping near-30-year relationship with the company, having moved up the ranks all the way to president and then the big seat of CEO. And, if that wasn't enough, he took on the role of interim president at the University of Minnesota from 2023 to 2024. So, he's no stranger to taking the helm!
The CEO search committee can breathe a sigh of relief now, as the board plans to lock in the permanent CEO in October 2026. So keep your eyes peeled for further updates, folks!
