In a significant development for the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), K.J. Patel has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) with immediate effect, effective from July 31, 2025.
Patel, a mechanical engineering graduate from Saurashtra University, brings over 32 years of experience in the fertilizer industry to his new role. He has been instrumental in the maintenance of nitrogenous and phosphatic fertilizer plants and has served as the Director-Technical at IFFCO, heading the IFFCO Paradeep Plant - India's largest fertilizer complex.
Under his leadership, the Paradeep Unit achieved significant improvements in productivity and operational efficiency. This track record suggests that Patel's focus on operational excellence and strategic growth will continue to benefit IFFCO.
Expressing his gratitude to Chairman Dileep Sanghani and Vice Chairman Balvir Singh, Patel emphasised his commitment to steer IFFCO into a new phase of innovation and growth. With a personal understanding of farmers' needs and concerns, he plans to focus on value creation and strategic growth, aiming to empower farmers and advance agricultural development across India.
The board of IFFCO expresses confidence in Patel's ability to carry forward IFFCO’s legacy, emphasising continued innovation, including the promotion of products like nano liquid urea and nano liquid DAP that contributed to IFFCO’s recent profit growth.
Dr. U. S. Awasthi, the outgoing MD, handed over the charge to Patel, expressing his congratulations and best wishes for his new position. Patel, in turn, stated that he was honoured by the trust placed in him and would give "more than 100% for the service of farmers."
