Improved Living Conditions in the Historic District
The city of Münster has announced changes to its parking regulations in the Old Town, affecting the streets of Drubbel, Spiekerhof, Roggenmarkt, and Bogenstraße. A new parking regulation, jointly established by Kiepenkerl e.V. neighborhood association, the Mobility and Infrastructure Department, the Ordnance Office, and Münster Marketing, was passed by the city council on June 19, 2024.
Under the new regulation, a total of 23 paid parking spots will be eliminated. However, parking spots for individuals with mobility impairments, delivery services, and similar services will remain unaffected.
Starting September 22nd, warning signs for the new parking regulations will be erected, with mobile warning signs at Drubbel and Bogenstraße informing residents about the changed parking regulations.
The city is considering creating a pick-up and drop-off zone, marked with restricted stopping signs, as part of the new regulation. Additionally, the city is considering the possibility of planting greenery and creating additional bicycle parking spaces to promote sustainable transportation.
It's important to note that a traffic restriction is already in place from Rothenburg for the Drubbel and Roggenmarkt area. After an adjustment period, the city of Münster will adapt the new traffic regulations to local needs.
The organization responsible for the development of these new parking regulations is the Office for Mobility and Civil Engineering (Amt für Mobilität und Tiefbau) of the City of Münster.
Residents are advised to pay close attention to the new parking regulations and the warning signs that will be erected on September 22nd. Further information about the creation of a pick-up and drop-off zone, the planting of greenery, and the creation of additional bicycle parking spaces will be provided at a later date.
