India Launches 1.2 GW Renewable Energy Tender with 4.8 GWh Storage
India's Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched a tender for 1.2 GW of renewable energy projects, coupled with a substantial 4.8 GWh extra space storage system. The projects, to be developed on a build-own-operate basis, must be charged exclusively through renewable sources and deliver 4,000 kWh of energy per MW during peak hours.
Bidders are required to submit a single bid for a minimum of 50 MW and a maximum of 600 MW. Selected developers will be responsible for land acquisition, installation, ownership, grid connectivity, and regulatory approvals. The projects must be ISTS-connected with co-located generation and storage components. They will operate under 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with a yet-to-be-named company.
The tender, issued by SECI, mandates energy storage, ensuring a reliable and consistent power supply. This move aligns with India's commitment to renewable energy and energy security.
