Indian-made Maruti Suzuki Fronx sets speedy record with 100,000 overseas shipments

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, India's only passenger vehicle with a turbocharged petrol engine, has been making waves in the international market since its launch in 2023. The compact SUV, manufactured exclusively at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat facility, has been exported to nearly 100 countries, making it the most exported passenger vehicle from India for two consecutive financial years.

The Fronx began its global journey in 2023, shipping to over 80 international markets. One of the most notable successes for the Fronx has been in Japan, contributing significantly to its overall export numbers. Key regions for the Fronx's exports include Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

The Fronx offers a choice of two petrol engines: a turbocharged unit, exclusive to the Fronx, and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. Transmission options vary based on the engine type. The turbocharged engine is available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic, which includes paddle shifters for manual gear selection. On the other hand, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine can be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. Interestingly, the CNG version of the Fronx is exclusively available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

In FY 2024-25, over 69,000 units of the Fronx were dispatched to overseas markets. This number increased significantly in the first quarter of FY 2025-26, with Maruti Suzuki exporting more than 96,000 vehicles, securing a record 47% share of India's total passenger vehicle exports.

Maruti Suzuki has maintained its position as India's leading passenger vehicle exporter for four consecutive financial years. The Fronx, with its versatile engine and transmission options, has undoubtedly played a significant role in this achievement.

In the domestic market, the Fronx was launched in April 2023. The current prices for the Fronx in India vary by variant and location. In Delhi, the ex-showroom prices range from ₹7.51 lakh to ₹13.13 lakh. On-road prices in different cities are as follows: Ahmedabad, base model starts at ₹8.46 lakh, top variant at ₹14.51 lakh; Chennai, base model starts at ₹8.76 lakh, top variant at ₹15.67 lakh.

The Fronx's success story continues as it offers a blend of performance, efficiency, and affordability, making it a popular choice for both domestic and international customers. Whether it's the turbocharged petrol engine's impressive 99 bhp or the naturally aspirated engine's fuel-efficient 89 bhp, the Fronx delivers a driving experience that is hard to match in its segment.

Moreover, the Fronx's CNG variant, using the same 1.2-litre engine, offers an eco-friendly alternative for environmentally conscious customers. In CNG mode, the Fronx produces 76 bhp at 6,000 rpm, with peak torque delivered at 4,300 rpm.

As Maruti Suzuki continues to expand its global footprint, the Fronx stands as a testament to the company's commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable, and efficient vehicles to customers worldwide.
