Industrial fire breaks out on a rooftop within the Gladbecker industrial sector.
Fire Breaks Out in Gladbeck's Industrial Area
In the heart of Gladbeck, a fire erupted on the afternoon of July 11, 2025, at around 15:15, engulfing an uninhabited flat-roof bungalow on Hornstraße.
The initial concern was high, as the densely adjacent trees posed a significant risk of the fire spreading to nearby buildings. However, fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The Gladbeck Fire Department swiftly responded, deploying their cold-cut foam system. Despite the deployment, the fire did not respond as expected, necessitating a more extensive response.
Approximately 100 emergency service personnel and 30 vehicles were involved in the operation. To contain the fire, a defensive position was formed on the building's rear side towards the neighboring business, while firefighting operations began on the building's front side.
The entire roof had to be removed with the help of the THW (Technisches Hilfswerk, or Technical Relief Organisation). The scene of the fire on Hornstraße has since been handed over to the police for investigation, and the cause of the fire, as well as the extent of the property damage, remain undisclosed.
The Fire Department has requested that all inquiries about the fire from media representatives be directed to the Fire Department Gladbeck Duty Officer. The contact information for the Duty Officer is as follows: Phone: 02043 99 - 2362, Email: [email protected].
The population was warned via the NINA warning app due to the heavy smoke generated by the fire. The identity of the arsonist who started the fire remains undisclosed.
The community hopes for a swift resolution to the investigation and a return to normalcy on Hornstraße in Gladbeck's industrial area.
