Uncovering the Industrial Plot Scandal: 10 Families Violate YEIDA Rules, Inevitably Leading to Allotment Cancellations

Industrial plots in Section 29 and 33, allocated by Yeida, have been revoked due to suspected irregularities.

In a shocking revelation, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) uncovered a plot scandal involving 10 families who brazenly violated scheme guidelines during the Industrial and Toy Park plot scheme in Sectors 29 and 33. This scandalous debacle unfolded in October 2020.

The failure to adhere to the rules was jaw-dropping, as multiple family members—husbands, wives, and sons—created separate companies to secure numerous plots, blatantly disregarding the stipulated guidelines[2]. "Multiple instances of family members creatively forming multiple companies to obtain allotments emerged," Arun Vir Singh, YEIDA's chief executive officer, commented[3].

The scheme, initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, offered 855 plots, with 712 designated for the Industrial Park in Sector 29 and 143 for the Toy Park in Sector 33. Among the staggering 2,785 applications, 2,290 were deemed eligible[4]. Post the plot draw held on October 9, 2020, 700 successful applicants emerged.

However, questions regarding multiple allotments within the same family began surfacing shortly after the draw[5]. Upon closer inspection, some applicants were found to lack the required documents, yet were included in the draw based on oral instructions, as per Singh's statements[6].

府 In response to these findings, allotment letters clearly outlined that only one allotment per family—defined as a spouse and dependents—would be allowed. Any violation of this rule would result in the cancellation of the allotment[7]. A committee, led by the additional CEO, was established to look into 43 allotments. Both legal opinions from a senior advocate and a law firm were sought, confirming that 28 allotments belonged to 10 affected families[8]. 16 of these allotments were revealed to have contravened the rules and subsequently got canceled[9].

"The affected allottees will receive a refund of their deposited amount, following a 20% deduction," Singh stated[10]. The revoked plots will be integrated into a new industrial scheme scheduled for launch this week, offering 81 plots measuring below 8,000 sqm and 20 larger plots[11].
