Introducing the 2026 BMW M2 CS: the Pinnacle of M2 Performance Enhancements
The German automaker BMW has unveiled its latest high-performance offering, the M2 CS, at the Legends of the Autobahn event in California. The car, presented by BMW Product Manager Nick Gerstner, is a successor to the M2 and boasts several upgrades and enhancements over its predecessor.
Based on the G87 M2, the M2 CS showcases an extensive use of carbon fiber, shedding approximately 100 pounds compared to the standard car. This weight reduction is evident in the interior, where carbon fiber bucket seats, a lightweight carbon fiber center console, and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel can be found. The exterior also features carbon fiber in the roof, trunk, and various aero parts, along with a more aggressive front splitter, a massive ducktail spoiler, and a unique rear diffuser.
The M2 CS is equipped with grippy tires, with 275 profile in front and 285 profile in the rear, mounted on bronze-painted forged wheels. The car's stopping power is provided by red-painted brake calipers. Under the hood, the M2 CS houses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo S58 inline-six engine, producing a formidable 523 horsepower.
In terms of transmission, the M2 CS is only available with an automatic option. The exhaust system has also been updated for improved performance. However, unlike some high-performance cars, the M2 CS does not feature yellow racing lights.
The M2 CS is a limited-edition model, with production numbers discussed during the event. The show car at Legends of the Autobahn was painted in a new BMW Individual shade, Velvet Blue. The M2 CS is available in CS-exclusive colours, offering buyers a chance to personalise their vehicles.
The M2 CS was previously showcased at the Nürburgring, where it set a record before making its way to California for the Legends of the Autobahn event. This car is a testament to BMW's commitment to performance and innovation, and it's sure to turn heads on the road.
