Kirkland & Ellis has appointed Greg Durst as Senior Director of Global Fund Partnerships in its Investment Funds Group. With a wealth of experience in the industry, Durst is poised to enhance the firm's relationships with the limited partner (LP) community.

Durst previously worked as Senior Managing Director of Global Growth at the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA), where he represented over 600 institutional LP members globally. In this role, he led the development and launch of ILPA’s first formal engagement mechanism with the GP community to address strategic and tactical industry issues. He also opened ILPA’s first non-North American office in London in 2023, expanding ILPA’s global reach.

Durst directed many growth initiatives involving GPs, legal service providers, and event management for ILPA, including hosting annual LP/GP roundtables in New York and London, fostering dialogue among senior leaders from both sides. He also contributed senior expertise on matters relating to retail capital in private markets, private credit, NAV facilities, and continuation funds.

Before his time at ILPA, Durst served as founding Chief Operating Officer at a New York hedge fund manager and was head of investor relations at a Southern African growth capital provider. These roles further reinforced his deep investor relations credentials.

At Kirkland, based in London with a global remit, Durst will work to strengthen the firm's ties with existing and prospective clients in the investment fund space by making the fund formation process more efficient and consensus-driven between LPs and GPs. His background in capital raising, consulting, banking, and industry leadership is seen as a key asset for Kirkland’s Investment Funds Group, which advises on a vast number of private fund formations worldwide.

Greg Durst holds a degree in Finance from Georgetown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. His focus at Kirkland will be on enhancing relationships with the limited partner (LP) community during the fund formation process.

Kirkland is a top advisor in investment fund formation, having advised on over 1,900 funds with total capital commitments exceeding $2.17 trillion since January 2019. The firm's Executive Committee Chairman, Jon A. Ballis, stated that Durst will be an incredibly valuable resource to their team and investment fund clients.

According to Erica Berthou, an investment funds partner and member of Kirkland's Executive Committee, Greg Durst's ability to create lasting partnerships that benefit all parties is a strength. Daniel Lavon-Krein, an investment funds partner and member of Kirkland's Executive Committee, also believes that Durst's understanding of what works on both practical and philosophical levels makes him the perfect fit for Kirkland.

Kirkland seeks to maintain its leadership position in the private funds sector by working more closely with all constituents to ensure continued growth. With the addition of Greg Durst to its team, the firm is well-positioned to meet the goals of its clients and their investors.
