Horatio Sparkes Appointed to Leadership Role at Morningstar
Horatio H. Sparkes, a seasoned finance professional with over three decades of experience, has been appointed to a leadership role at Morningstar.
Currently serving as the Senior Director of Business Development and Investor Relations at Pandion Asset Management, Sparkes has made a significant impact in the investment world. He engages with institutional investors, introducing differentiated investment strategies that prioritise long-term value creation and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Sparkes's extensive career includes senior leadership roles at CapSource Productions, APEX, Geronimo Investment Management, and The Yucaipa Companies. Notably, he served as the Deputy Comptroller for Pensions for the City of New York, overseeing a pension portfolio worth more than $120 billion. During his tenure, he doubled the fund's assets and was the first Black executive director of a NYC retirement system.
In addition to his role at Pandion, Sparkes chairs the boards of the Cambria Center for the Gifted Child and the Cambria School of Excellence. He also serves as a trustee on the New York State Secure Choice Savings Program Board. During his time with the New York City Board of Education Retirement System, he chaired both the Investment and Actuarial Audit Committees and served as a trustee on multiple city pension boards.
