Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, is steering towards a digital future with the development of IT project support and development centres. This ambitious plan aims to strengthen the city's IT ecosystem and workforce skills, making it a thriving hub for innovation and technological entrepreneurship.

Alatau Creative Hub: A Nest for IT Startups

At the heart of this transformation is the Alatau Creative Hub, a major centre designed to foster IT startups, innovation, and creative technologies. This collaborative workspace and incubator provides young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to develop skills and launch tech products. The hub, located on the second floor of a 1,700 sq.m space at Alatau CreativЕ Hub, is set to open its doors soon.

Coworking Spaces Abound

Almaty is witnessing a surge in coworking spaces that cater to IT companies and freelancers. One such example is Petrel AI, a software development firm based in Almaty specialising in custom software and AI solutions. These centres offer the necessary infrastructure and networking opportunities for IT professionals and startups.

Academie Informatique: A New Training Ground for IT Talent

A private investor is preparing to open Academie Informatique, a new programming school, in the Almaly district next year. The centre will boast a sizeable coworking space of 9,000 sq.m, in addition to 4,000 sq.m dedicated to comprehensive training programs aimed at developing IT talent. The focus will be on practical skills and emerging technologies, contributing to a broader educational push seen in Kazakhstan.

Governmental Support and Digital Transformation

The Kazakh government is actively involved in this digital transformation, establishing a digital transformation group to accelerate AI and digital technology integration throughout the country. This includes supporting domestic IT startups, modernising IT architecture, enhancing cybersecurity, and spearheading smart city projects to create a favourable environment for IT innovation and development.

A Comprehensive Infrastructure Network

Sagintayev, the former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, emphasised the importance of creating IT centres in different districts to establish a comprehensive infrastructure network for the IT industry. This strategic approach is expected to lead to the opening of similar IT centres in all districts of Almaty, fostering growth in software development, AI, and technological entrepreneurship.

The first IT centre will open at Alatau CreativЕ Hub, with the coworking centre at the 'Technodom' multifunctional centre in the Bostandyk district following suit. This centre offers space for starting IT entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small teams, further bolstering Almaty's growing IT scene.

The business space FIFTY FOUR ('54') is also set to open in the Almaly district, adding another dimension to Almaty's burgeoning IT landscape.

This coordinated approach to building a dynamic IT industry hub in Almaty through collaborative spaces, targeted education, and governmental support is poised to transform the city into a leading centre for technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
