The SiGMA Group, a leading event organiser focusing on the iGaming industry, recently welcomed Ambassador Valentina Setta to its Malta office. This marked the Ambassador's first contact with SiGMA since she assumed her post in June.

During the visit, Ambassador Setta was introduced to teams responsible for summits, education, and innovation, including MedTech initiatives and the iGaming Academy. The Ambassador was briefed on the alignment of event programming with talent development through the academy's courses and credentials. These units are designed to support skill exchange, regulatory compliance, and knowledge sharing alongside events.

The upcoming Central and Eastern European SiGMA Summit in Rome is a significant event, aiming to position Rome and Italy as a strategic and promising hub for the gaming industry, digital entrepreneurship, and startup growth in Europe. The event, scheduled for November 3 to 6 at Fiera Roma, aims to drive innovation in the gaming sector, foster essential business connections, and unlock the significant untapped potential of Italy's online gambling market, which currently operates online in only 25% of its €16 billion total gambling revenue.

Key aspects of the summit's purpose include highlighting Rome's historical and emerging role as a center for innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital technology. The event will leverage Italy’s rapid venture capital growth and initiatives supporting emerging technologies. It will also facilitate strategic networking through business-to-government receptions and collaboration with embassies and public-sector leaders. The summit aims to enable companies eager to expand into Italy’s gaming sector to make crucial connections and drive industry transformation.

Emily Micallef and Healthcliff Farrugia, Executive Director and Director of Operations respectively, received Ambassador Setta. The SiGMA team discussed the expected positive economic impact for Rome through visitor spending, venue operations, and associated supplier activity during summit week. The conversation also touched on the projects and efforts of the SiGMA Foundation, including education, health, and community development initiatives in various countries.

The SiGMA Group's Executive Director and Director of Operations thanked Ambassador Setta for her visit and the enriching discussion centered on results and impact. The visit concluded with the Ambassador being informed about SiGMA's international presence and diverse areas of work. The upcoming SiGMA summit in Rome is recognized as an important high-level conference, with the event's program including an exhibition, conference, and B2G networking components. To date, the SiGMA Foundation has transformed the lives of 7,700 people through schools, medical centers, surgeries, and empowerment programs.

The visit underscores the constructive collaboration between the public and private sectors of Malta and Italy, setting the stage for a promising future for the gaming industry in Italy and Europe.
