John Clark Motor Group Posts £19m Profit Despite Market Challenges
John Clark Motor Group has reported a pre-tax profit of £19m for 2024, a slight dip from £22.9m in 2023. Despite this, the group's managing director, Chris Clark, described the year as one of 'solid performance' given the market conditions.
The group's aftersales revenues climbed 9% to £103.8 million in 2024, demonstrating resilience in this sector. This growth was supported by the opening of a new electric and hybrid vehicle site in Aberdeen, a partnership with BYD. Additionally, the group invested £12m in redeveloping its Skoda, Seat, and Cupra dealership, reflecting a commitment to improving facilities.
The group's expansion continued with the acquisition of the Kia franchise in Peterhead. This, coupled with an increase in new car sales to 15,468 and used car sales to 19,698, contributed to the group's annual sales rising to over £1 billion in 2024. The group's headcount also rose to 1,385, with significant resources dedicated to training and apprenticeships.
John Clark Motor Group's 2024 results show a mixed picture, with a slight fall in pre-tax profit but strong performances in aftersales and sales. The group's expansion and investment plans indicate a positive outlook for the future, despite market headwinds.
