Karaganda Region's Metallurgy and Mining Boom Impresses President Tokayev
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently met with Ermakhanbet Bulekpaev, the Akim of Karaganda region, to discuss the area's thriving metallurgy and mining sector. The region, led by AO Qarmet, has seen significant investments and growth.
Investments in the region have surged, with 644.7 billion tenge attracted, marking an 11.1 percent increase. This influx has led to a boost in production across various sectors, including metallurgy, machine building, agriculture, light, and food industries. The share of the processing industry in the gross regional product is also on the rise.
The region plans to implement 29 investment projects worth 195 billion tenge, creating over 2,700 new 'jobs near me'. Looking ahead to 2030, a pool of 120 investment projects worth 4.5 trillion tenge is planned, which will create 20,000 new 'jobs near me'. These projects aim to reduce dependence on imports, with large-scale initiatives in agriculture playing a significant role.
In the first eight months, industrial production reached 3.2 trillion tenge, a 7 percent increase from the previous year. The construction of two dairy farms is set to fully meet the region's demand for milk.
President Tokayev, impressed by the region's progress, gave instructions for continued social and economic development. With AO Qarmet at the helm, the Karaganda region is poised for further growth and prosperity, with plans to create thousands of new 'jobs near me' and boost industrial production.
