Kazakhstan & OPEC Strengthen Energy Dialogue, Aim for Resilience
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais recently held talks, focusing on bolstering regional energy system resilience and fostering dialogue between Kazakhstan and OPEC.
The leaders, accompanied by representatives from Kazakhstan and OPEC member nations, discussed joint measures to fortify the region's energy infrastructure. They recognised the need to balance the interests of oil-producing and importing countries.
Tokayev praised OPEC's role in maintaining global oil market stability and predictability. The Head of State viewed Al Ghais's visit as a significant step towards constructive dialogue between the two parties. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan supports the OPEC+ decision to gradually increase oil production, while prioritising national interests.
The interlocutors acknowledged the substantial investment required worldwide for oil extraction, refining, and transportation - approximately $700 million annually.
The talks between Tokayev and Al Ghais underscore Kazakhstan's commitment to international cooperation in energy matters. Both sides aim to strengthen resilience, balance interests, and maintain market stability.
