LNER Data Breach: Customer Details Exposed, No Train or Ticket Impact
UK's London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has reported a data breach, potentially exposing customer contact details and other personal information. The incident occurred via a third-party supplier, but did not affect train operations or ticket sales.
LNER, which operates high-speed and long-distance routes on the East Coast Main Line, connecting London with major cities like Edinburgh, Leeds, and York, has urged customers to be vigilant following the breach. The affected third-party provider was Sharespine, responsible for LNER's ticketing system. While the breach did not compromise bank information, payment card details, or passwords, customers should remain cautious and avoid responding to unsolicited messages requesting personal information.
LNER has assured customers that train operations and ticket sales remain unaffected by the data breach. However, customers are advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
