Luxury automakers Porsche and Mercedes-AMG prepare for a heated competition with their latest offerings, the GT2 RS from Porsche and the GT Black Series from AMG.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is set to make a triumphant return, marking the third iteration of the esteemed GT2 RS nameplate. According to insiders, this new model is anticipated to raise the bar in performance and set new records on the track.
With a projected power output of well over 850 horsepower, the new GT2 RS is poised to outshine its predecessor, the Mk2 version, which boasted 691 horsepower. The hybrid system, similar to the mild hybrid setup on the 911 GTS T-Hybrid, is expected to provide an additional performance lift through an electric motor integrated into the transmission, adding approximately 54 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque.
The new GT2 RS is scheduled for unveiling this year, with production slated to commence in 2026. This ambitious timeline suggests that the car is in its late stages of development, as testing and spy shots have been observed in 2025.
The GT2 RS will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain derived from Porsche's Le Mans cars, aiming to push the performance capabilities of the 911 even further. The powerhouse will be centred around the 3.6-litre flat-six engine of the GTS T-Hybrid.

The new AMG GT variant, to be previewed by the Concept AMG GT Track Sport at the September Munich motor show, is also expected to challenge the GT2 RS for the title of the fastest road-going car on the Nürburgring.
