Luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini's $4 million Pregunta is an awe-inspiring creation, drawing inspiration from the intense world of fighter jets, standing as the final hurrah before the VW era.
The unique Lamborghini Pregunta Concept, a one-of-a-kind vehicle that marked the end of an era before Volkswagen Group's influence, is set to be auctioned at Broad Arrow's Zoute Concours event on October 10 in Knokke-Heist, Belgium.
Commissioned under Chrysler's ownership and debuted just months after Audi took control, the Pregunta is a Diablo-based concept car that boasts a 5.7-liter V12 engine, producing 530 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel-drive vehicle's transmission is a 5-speed manual, offering a thrilling driving experience.
The Pregunta's extensive use of carbon fiber was forward-thinking for 1998, reflecting the car's avant-garde design. French coachbuilder Heuliez handled the bodywork, with designer Marc Deschamps taking visual cues from the Dassault Rafale fighter jet.
Inside the Pregunta, the aviation theme continues with Azure Blue Alcantara seats, fiber-optic lighting, digital displays, cameras replacing traditional side mirrors, a Magneti Marelli digital instrument cluster, and an Alpine audio system.
After years touring exhibitions under Heuliez ownership, the Pregunta was acquired by a private collector in 2008. In 2021, Lamborghini's heritage division serviced the Pregunta, earning it official Polo Storico certification. The vehicle was then displayed at the Museo Lamborghini.
The Pregunta will join an impressive lineup of vehicles at the Zoute Concours Auction, including a 1990 Ferrari F40, a 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort, a 1992 Bugatti EB110 GT, Daniel Ricciardo's Aston Martin Valkyrie, a unique Transformer-themed Bugatti Veyron, and a rare Mercedes-Benz 190 homologation special, among others. Specific buyers for these vehicles are not publicly named.
The estimated selling price for the Pregunta is €2.5-3.5 million ($2.9-4.2 million). The auction will take place at Approach Golf in Knokke-Heist, Belgium, promising an exciting event for car enthusiasts. The Pregunta Concept's performance, including a 0-60 sprint in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 209mph, is sure to captivate bidders and make for an intriguing auction.
