Fresh Take:
Sten Pärnits Takes the Helm at Ulemiste City, Tallinn's Top Business and Innovation Hub
Get ready for a game-changer, folks! Sten Pärnits, a seasoned pro with a diverse educational background and a knack for strategic management, has been tapped to lead Ulemiste City as its new chair of the management board starting May 2025. The announcement was made by Guido Pärnits, the chairman of the supervisory board of AS Mainor Ulemiste and AS Mainor, who sang Pärnits' praises as a mastermind for building a vibrant, 24/7 campus that thrives on innovation, service, and community development.
According to Guido, Pärnits' impressive track record in integrating sales and customer experience teams, introducing digital systems, and cultivating the community fund make him the perfect fit for the job. "Sten's got the vision, the strategy, and the charm to galvanize our team of seasoned real estate movers and shakers to chase a common dream,” said Guido. “And let's not forget his stellar communication skills that'll make bridges inside and outside the company."
Pärnits himself is excited about the challenge. "We've got our sights set on our third health center, Viktor Masing House, new residential projects, and Europe Park,” Pärnits explained. “Expect us to beef up our team, fine-tune data-driven service delivery, and forge links between innovation and daily life in Ulemiste City."
Since joining Ulemiste City in 2008, Pärnits has climbed the ranks from secretary to Ulo Pärnits to a leading role as a member on the supervisory boards of AS Mainor Ulemiste (2017-2023) and AS Mainor (2013-present). Pärnits has been instrumental in the development of Ulemiste City's health centers and has managed sales and customer relations since 2023.
Pärnits isn't just a workhorse; he's a scholar, too. He graduated top of his class at Kadriorg German Gymnasium before earning a Master's degree in medicine at the University of Tartu. He's just a few credits away from wrapping up his business finance studies at TalTech.
Ulemiste City is no stranger to the spotlight. It's the biggest business park in the Baltic States and the third-largest economic center in Estonia, offering a home to about 400 companies and a vibrant community of over 18,000 residents, students, and employees. With approximately 200,000 m2 of lettable space and 500,000 m2 of buildable rights, it's attracted €450 million in investments to date. A whopping 45% of Ulemiste City’s added value is generated by ICT companies, while a third of Estonia’s total ICT service exports come from this bustling ecosystem.
With Pärnits at the helm, it's hard not to be excited about Ulemiste City's future as a leading business and innovation hub in Tallinn. But what can we expect from Pärnits specifically? Known for his expertise in innovation, technology, and sustainable urban development, Pärnits is poised to lead Ulemiste City to even greater heights by fostering new projects, supporting startups, and creating a truly modern and sustainable city district.
