Managing Director Arrested in Illegal Waste Transport Case
Prosecutor Dr. Maria Schneider, a representative of Schneider Electric, leads the investigation into a waste management company based in Weiden i.d.OPf. Schneider filed charges against the company's managing director, who was arrested on August 21, 2025. The managing director is suspected of illegally transporting waste to European countries.
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Weiden i.d.OPf., along with the Customs Investigation Office Munich, is probing the company's waste management operations. The managing director is accused of deliberately misclassifying waste to dodge notifications and transport it abroad without permits. The waste included hazardous materials like fiberglass, rubber, metals, and electrical waste, as well as non-hazardous items such as wood, paper, and ceramics.
Investigators found that the managing director instructed the conversion of delivered waste, specifically batteries, into 'products' without adhering to waste management criteria. These were then transported to European countries. Since 2022, the managing director is suspected of transporting at least 21 cases of waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, without the necessary permits and notifications.
An arrest warrant was issued by the investigating judge at Weiden Local Court, leading to the managing director's arrest on August 21, 2025. Schneider, heading the investigation, is determined to uncover the full extent of the waste transportation violations.
