Maruti Suzuki introduces enhanced safety measures with the launch of innovative features
Maruti Suzuki, a leading automobile manufacturer in India, is setting new benchmarks in vehicle safety. The company's focus on rigorous testing, cutting-edge technology, and comprehensive safety education is aimed at alleviating any doubts consumers may have about the safety of Maruti vehicles.
Over the years, Maruti Suzuki has democratized safety in India, offering features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and six airbags across a broad range of vehicles. This commitment to safety has resulted in the all-new Dzire becoming the first sedan in India to achieve a 5-star rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP).
Maruti Suzuki's NEXA Safety Shield and ARENA Safety Shield initiatives introduce a comprehensive set of advanced safety features standardized across their vehicle lineups. These include six airbags for enhanced occupant protection, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) combined with Hill Hold Assist to enhance vehicle stability and safer hill starts, ISOFIX child seat anchors for secure child seat installation, three-point ELR seat belts with seat belt reminders across all seats, reverse parking assist to aid maneuvering and reduce collision risk, and comprehensive impact protection for frontal, side, and pedestrian safety scenarios.
Additional recent safety advancements under the broader safety strategy include 360-degree cameras, heads-up displays, electronic parking brakes with auto-hold, front parking assist, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in select models like the eVITARA.
Maruti Suzuki emphasizes this initiative as a proactive move ahead of regulatory requirements, reflecting a company-wide safety-first philosophy and a commitment to raising occupant and pedestrian safety across its entire product range sold through both premium NEXA and mass-market ARENA channels.
The company has introduced six airbags in more than 140 vehicle variants, a first in the industry. Maruti Suzuki's R&D centre in Rohtak undergoes over 50 crash tests, including the controlled crash of around 30 vehicles, for each model before launch.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki, stated that safety has always been a strategic priority for the company. This commitment to safety was reaffirmed during the 10th anniversary celebrations of the NEXA retail channel.
Maruti Suzuki's safety initiatives extend beyond vehicles, encompassing education and enforcement support. The company emphasizes road safety through educational programs, enforcement support, and emergency care initiatives.
Maruti Suzuki continues to position itself as an industry leader in vehicle safety, with a focus on protecting drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. The company's dual-channel Safety Shield rollout reflects Maruti Suzuki's aim to anticipate evolving customer needs and deliver technologically advanced solutions that inspire confidence on the road.
