Maruti Suzuki's September 2025 Production Surges 26.5% on Strong Exports

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's leading carmaker, has reported a significant increase in production and exports in September 2025. Despite a softening in domestic sales, the company's overall performance has shown resilience.

September 2025 saw Maruti Suzuki's production volumes surge to 201,915 units, marking a 26.5% year-on-year increase. This growth was driven by relaxed GST rates and strong festive bookings. However, production had eased in August 2025 to 158,202 units due to seasonal adjustments. Earlier in the year, in June 2025, domestic production reached 127,504 units, the first year-on-year decline in nine months. Despite these fluctuations, Maruti Suzuki's near-term performance is expected to be bolstered by production ramp-ups and export momentum. Indeed, September 2025 exports hit a record 42,204 units, a 52% increase on global demand. Meanwhile, domestic sales softened 8.3% to 135,711 units due to logistical constraints. The compact segment remained the volume driver, with 66,882 units sold, a 10.6% year-on-year gain. Overall, Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 189,665 units in September 2025, a 2.7% increase over the prior year.

Maruti Suzuki India's production volumes showed a mixed trajectory through the summer of 2025, with September 2025 standing out as a month of significant growth. Despite domestic sales softening, the company's exports and overall sales remained robust, demonstrating Maruti Suzuki's continued strength in the Indian automotive market.
