Meghan and Harry Aim for Financial Independence, Sparking Royal Exit Speculation

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan and Prince Harry, have sparked speculation about their future plans. They aim to step back from senior royal duties and achieve financial independence, potentially pursuing personal projects and collaborations with organisations like WellChild and Children in Need.

Meghan's past experience as a lifestyle blogger on 'The Tig' hints at a possible return to writing. Her September 2019 Vogue issue as guest editor could serve as a stepping stone for her future career in writing and global fashion icon status. The couple could take inspiration from former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, who have successfully transitioned into earning money post-political duties.

However, former BBC royals correspondent Peter Hunt warns that attempts by royals to make money outside their royal commitments have 'always ended in tears'. If Meghan and Prince Harry step down as 'Senior Royals', their allowance from the British taxpayer may no longer apply. Their current income is covered by Prince Charles' private income from the Duchy of Cornwall.

With an estimated net worth of around £35 million (approximately €42 million), the couple seeks to distance themselves from royal funding and no longer be considered 'property' of the kingdom. Their potential earnings from collaborations with organisations like WellChild and Children in Need would depend on the scale and impact of the projects. As they navigate their new path, all eyes are on Meghan and Prince Harry to see how they will balance their royal duties with personal projects and financial independence.
