METALEX 2025 Kicks Off in Vietnam Amidst Industrial Boom

METALEX 2025, Vietnam's premier metalworking exhibition, kicked off today at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. The event, organised by RX Tradex Thailand and Vietnam, showcases advanced solutions in machine tools, automation, and supporting industries. It comes amidst a surge in industrial production and imports of metalworking-related goods in Vietnam.

The exhibition features a wide array of advanced metalworking tools and solutions. Visitors can expect to see the latest in precision measurement, inspection, welding technology, and more. This year's event is particularly notable for its focus on Vietnam's supporting industry sector. The country now boasts over 3,000 enterprises in this field, with around 600 capable of joining global supply chains directly.

The event is hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Mechanical - Electrical Enterprises (HAMEE), with its chairman, Dỗ Phước Tống, and Nguyễn Bá Tòng, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Supporting Industries, both in attendance. The Industrial Production Index in Vietnam's industrial sector has risen by 8.5 per cent in the first eight months of 2025, with manufacturing expanding by over 10 per cent compared to the same period last year. Imports of machinery, equipment, and metal products have also increased significantly, reaching nearly US$49.1 billion in total.

METALEX 2025 offers visitors and buyers tailored programmes like Expert Sharing Sessions and the Sourcing Fair 2025. Despite progress, the localisation rate in the automotive sector remains below target, with only about 17 per cent of local suppliers part of multinational corporations' supply chains. This exhibition provides an opportunity to boost local capabilities and foster international partnerships in the metalworking industry.
