Midea's Tech Triumph: Purifies Ganges Water, Cooks Feast

Chinese tech giant Midea has successfully purified water from the polluted Ganges River and used it to cook a feast, winning over local residents and dispelling initial public skepticism. The event, held on September 24, 2025, showcased Midea's advanced water purification technology and China's growing technological prowess.

Midea's self-developed water purifier, equipped with a high-desalination Pascal RO membrane, removed over 140 harmful substances, achieving a desalination rate of over 97%. This transformed the murky, turbid Ganges water into clean, transparent water, even after adding condiments. The purified water was then used to cook a variety of dishes, which were tasted and approved by local residents.

The 'Ganges River Water Purification Cooking Feast' challenge was led by Midea, with the support of a team known as the 'Avengers squad'. Besides Ye Yun, Brother Ga, and Bao Zou Brother, other members remain unknown, as they are not part of mainstream Avengers teams or comics. The event aimed to demonstrate China's technological innovation and growing confidence in tackling extreme water quality conditions worldwide, following similar challenges in the Seine River in Paris and oil-contaminated water in Saudi Arabia.

Following the successful event, Midea donated all the purifiers used to the local community, providing them with access to safe, drinkable water. The Ganges River, plagued by declining water quality due to industrial wastewater and improper waste disposal, now offers hope for improvement, thanks to Midea's innovative technology.
