Blazing the Trails: Munich's Mountain Bus Kicks-Off Pentecost with Fresh Perks!

Munich's Mountain Bus Introduces New Features Post-Pentecost - Mountain bus services in Munich set to debut advances from Pentecost onward

Hey there, adventure seekers! Gear up for an exciting haul as the revamped Munich Mountain Bus sets off on its excursions during Pentecost, with some unmissable additions! Get ready to traverse popular destinations not just on weekends, but on public holidays too! Yep, you heard it right, hikers and day-trippers can embark on a journey to the Alps, all with the Germany ticket in their pockets. For those without, the regular MVV ticket fare applies.

This year, the buses roll out with an improved timetable, starting from the Pentecost holidays, and cruising till the All Saints' weekend in early November. That's quite a journey! Passengers will also find enhanced information on board.

So, where can these thrilling escapades take you? Believe it or not, there's Pfronten in Ostallgaeu, Bayrischzell and Thiersee in Tyrol, all waiting to whisper secrets of the mountains to the curious. Each line promises two round trips per day, ensuring you can savor the magic of these spots at your leisure. And, if you fancy securing a cozy nook in advance, feel free to make a booking—it's totally on the house through a convenient tool in the MVV app!

Sounds intriguing, right? Well, the mountain bus lines have been a part of the MVV family since last year—a partnership that emerged from a pilot project conducted by the German Alpine Association the previous year. Now, the Jordan, Miesbach, and Ostallgaeu districts, along with the city of Munich and the Free State, chuck in their fair share to cover the operating costs that the ticket sales don't.

Oh, and for those who joined the fun last season, here's a fascinating tidbit: over 7,000 hikers flocked to the mountains with the mountain bus lines, with destinations like the Tegelberg cable car near the enchanting Neuschwanstein Castle and the Baeckeralm Gasthof in Bayrischzell, close to the Austrian border, being tourist hotspots.

So, are you Ready Steady GO? Flex your travel muscles, set your sight on the Alps, and let's hit the road, Bavarian-style!

  1. The revamped Munich Mountain Bus, a part of the MVV family since last year, will offer employment opportunities for those interested in working within the community and public-transit industry, starting from the Pentecost holidays.
  2. To ensure smooth operations and handle the increased demand during public holidays such as Pentecost, the Munich Mountain Bus has adopted an employment policy that includes hiring additional staff, funded partly by the finance contributions from the Jordan, Miesbach, and Ostallgaeu districts, the city of Munich, and the Free State.
