**Wise Music Group Expands Partnership with Sigur Rós**

In a significant move, Chester Music Limited, a division of Wise Music Group, has entered into a new agreement with the writers of Icelandic band Sigur Rós. This partnership aims to create and publish arrangements and adaptations of Sigur Rós’ existing catalog, as well as new collaborative works.

The core of the agreement focuses on creating orchestral and classical arrangements of Sigur Rós’ music, allowing their work to be performed by orchestras, ensembles, and in concert settings worldwide. The partnership also contemplates the creation of new, original classical compositions, either as direct collaborations between Sigur Rós members and Chester Music, or as commissions featuring the band’s distinctive style within classical forms.

Marcus Wise, CEO of Wise Music Group, expressed excitement about the potential for groundbreaking work with Sigur Rós and their music. On behalf of the Sigur Rós band members, Dean O'Connor at Big Dipper Productions stated that the negotiations were easier due to the shared vision and authenticity of the ideas being discussed.

Sigur Rós member Kjartan Sveinsson has also signed a deal with Chester Music for his future classical works, including his opera Der Klang der Offenbarung des Göttlichen (The Explosive Sonics of Divinity). Wise Music Group, which owns or controls over half a million copyrights, including a significant amount of classical music, has expressed pleasure at collaborating with Kjartan Sveinsson to build on the achievements of his opera Der Klang and assist him in his continued success in classical music.

This partnership represents a notable expansion of Sigur Rós’ artistic footprint. While the band is already recognized for its ethereal, atmospheric rock, this move signals an embrace of the classical world, offering their music to new audiences and performers. The collaboration also highlights Wise Music Group’s ongoing strategy to bridge contemporary popular and classical music, following recent signings like The Clientele and composer Lukas Ligeti.

Details about specific projects, premieres, or release timelines have not yet been disclosed. However, the agreement positions Sigur Rós for a new chapter of creative output, with Chester Music and Wise Music Group as key partners in bringing their music to classical stages and scores. Fans and classical music enthusiasts can anticipate both reinterpretations of familiar works and the emergence of entirely new pieces born from this partnership.
