Nationwide Hotel Inspection Uncovers 111 Suspected Labour Law Violations
A nationwide inspection in the hotel and catering industry on Friday, September 19, 2025, led to the discovery of numerous suspected labor law violations. The operation, involving 51 Financial Control Schwarzarbeit (FKS) customs officers across Brunswick, Göttingen, and Hildesheim, uncovered a total of 111 suspected cases of labor law infringements.
The inspection, which also involved the police, tax office, and trade supervisory office, encountered 133 persons and questioned them about their employment relationships. The focus was on ensuring compliance with social security obligations and minimum wage laws, currently set at €12.82 gross per hour.
Among the suspected violations, nine cases of benefit fraud and ten cases of minimum wage underpayment were detected. Additionally, seven cases of wage withholding and misappropriation, and fourteen cases of illegal employment of foreigners were uncovered. In one instance, an individual was found with a forged passport during a police identification procedure.
The inspection resulted in 111 suspected cases of labor law infringements, highlighting the need for vigilance in the hotel and catering industry. Further investigations are underway to confirm these suspicions and take appropriate actions.
