In a significant move for Rheinbahn, Germany's fifth-largest transport company, a new leadership trio has been appointed to steer the public transport company in Düsseldorf. The trio, consisting of Klaus Klar, Bernd Lier, and Michael Richarz, is expected to bring a unique blend of Rheinbahn's rich experience and innovative ideas for mobility concepts.

Klaus Klar, the new CEO, will be responsible for strategy, personnel, and stakeholder communication. He joins Rheinbahn with an impressive background, having worked in various leadership roles in the transport sector. His primary focus will be on modernizing infrastructure and vehicles, as well as improving the overall efficiency of the company.

Bernd Lier, another new member of the leadership team, will primarily oversee finance and market development. Coming from DB Connect, Lier brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in these areas. He believes that public transport can be the heart of individual mobility when integrated with complementary options, a vision that aligns with Rheinbahn's commitment to providing comprehensive and efficient services.

Michael Richarz, the head of operations, infrastructure, and vehicles, has been appointed to ensure the smooth running of Rheinbahn's extensive network. Richarz emphasizes the importance of keeping the customer at the centre of Rheinbahn's actions, and he is committed to catching up and improving with the help of dedicated employees, targeted expansion, and modernization of infrastructure and vehicles.

Thomas Geisel, the Mayor of Düsseldorf and the chairman of Rheinbahn's supervisory board, led the contract negotiations for the new leadership team. Geisel, a prominent German politician, has been instrumental in shaping Rheinbahn's future direction, with a focus on providing reliable service for both customers and employees.

Rheinbahn employs 2,930 people and transports 740,000 passengers daily with 735 vehicles on 111 lines. The company operates in the cities of Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, and the entire district of Mettmann. The new leadership team aims to build on these foundations, leveraging Rheinbahn's strong position in the market to drive innovation and improve the customer experience.

The new leadership team is set to begin their duties immediately, bringing fresh perspectives and a customer-centric approach to Rheinbahn. With their combined expertise and shared vision, they are poised to lead Rheinbahn into a new era of mobility solutions.
