Wyoming Department of Transportation District 4 Begins Annual Chip Sealing Project

The annual chip sealing project in Wyoming is underway in the northeast region, starting on August 13 and expected to be completed by August 24, 2025, weather permitting [1][2]. Work hours are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday during this period [2].

This project covers District 4 of the Wyoming Department of Transportation and affects multiple highways in northeast Wyoming [1]. The initial part of the project will be executed on Wyoming Highway 59 North between mile markers 123.770 and 142.070. After completion on Wyoming Highway 59 North, the project will move to WYO 50 [3]. The project will also extend to WYO 196 between mile markers 274.190 and 287.630 and US 16 east of Buffalo [4]. Furthermore, the project will cover sections between mile markers 2.120 and 7.400 on US 16 and Ucross between mile markers 14.260 and 20.280 [5]. The project will finally extend to Ranchester between the I-90 interchange and the west end of the new bridge [6].

Traffic advisories include possible delays due to ongoing chip seal operations. Drivers should expect loose stones on treated surfaces and drive with caution. Flaggers or traffic control personnel will likely be present during work hours to assist in safe traffic flow [1][2].

Hardrives Construction, Inc. will be responsible for the chip sealing project [7]. After completion, WYDOT will permanently stripe the routes and fog seal the shoulders [8].

The Wyoming Department of Transportation's District 4 project involves not only highway maintenance but also extends to aspects of the industry, such as the contract awarded to Hardrives Construction, Inc. for the chip sealing operation. In terms of finance, this project is likely to require significant investment for materials and labor, given the extensive area of transportation infrastructure it covers, including Wyoming Highway 59 North, WYO 50, WYO 196, US 16, and Ranchester.
