Nutrifoods Ghana Receives Safety Reaffirmation, Resumes Tasty Tom Production
Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods, has received a reaffirmation of its production systems' and products' safety and quality from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). This comes after a precautionary recall of select batches of Tasty Tom in August, which did not meet the company's high standards.
Following the recall, Nutrifoods collaborated with the FDA to strengthen process controls and reinforce quality assurance. The company implemented extended incubation protocols, leading to a thorough evaluation by the FDA. This resulted in the company earning the prestigious Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification through the FSSC 22000 standard.
Nutrifoods operates two major processing facilities, producing a diverse portfolio of high-quality food products. Its flagship brands include fortified Tasty Tom Tomato Mix, Jollof Mix, and Pepper & Onion, enriched with fiber and essential vitamins. The company actively engages communities through consumer engagement activities focused on product use, nutrition, and food safety.
After the re-evaluation process, Tasty Tom is now available for consumers once again. Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has recommenced production and distribution of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, ensuring it meets the highest safety and quality standards.
