Nvidia's GeForce Now Upgrade Announced at Gamescom 2025

Nvidia is set to unveil a significant update to its GeForce Now cloud gaming service during Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany. The live stream event will highlight the new NVIDIA Blackwell architecture with RTX 5080-class GPUs, promising substantial performance improvements and AI-powered features without increasing subscription prices.

The upgrade will see the GeForce Now Ultimate tier receive a boost, transitioning from RTX 4080-class servers to RTX 5080-class cloud gaming hardware. This change will enable streaming up to 5K resolution at 120 fps with DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation for enhanced visuals and smooth gameplay.

Another key addition is the introduction of Install-to-Play, allowing members to instantly download and stream any cloud-supported Steam game, even if not pre-installed, effectively doubling the game catalog to over 4,500 titles.

The update will also bring new AAA PC games optimized for GeForce Now with RTX 5080, including upcoming titles like ARC Raiders, Borderlands 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, The Outer Worlds 2, and others, playable at launch via cloud streaming.

In addition, GeForce Now users can expect new software features such as Multi Frame Generation and Smooth Motion frame generation technology, enhancing game performance and visual quality. The service is also expanding device support and streaming capabilities, including racing wheels, 90 fps streaming on Steam Deck, 4K at 120Hz on supported LG TVs, and integration with Discord for social gaming experiences.

GeForce Now is also planning to launch in India in November 2025, broadening global access to the cloud gaming service. However, no new hardware GPUs (like new desktop graphics cards) will be announced at Gamescom 2025, as Nvidia is focusing on cloud gaming improvements and software features instead.

Nvidia will be giving away five RTX 5070 Founders Edition graphics cards and additional prizes at Gamescom 2025. To win, active participation is required, including visiting booths, playing demos, and finding clues on X for a Golden Ticket.

Since going out of beta, Nvidia has added improved refresh rate and resolution support, including 4k 240Hz compatibility, and extra features such as Cloud G-Sync to the GeForce Now platform. However, DLSS support on GeForce Now is currently limited to version 3 and has not been upgraded to DLSS 4.

The RTX 50 series GPUs were launched by Nvidia eight months ago. It is likely that there will be a major upgrade to Nvidia's GeForce Now cloud gaming datacenter hardware, but the company has not provided specific details about Reflex 2 or neural texture compression, two upcoming technologies.

The new technology, if released, could sport a fancy new name to fit the GeForce umbrella. Nvidia will be live streaming at Gamescom 2025, discussing major GeForce Now news, new GeForce features, and some highly anticipated PC games.
