officially unveiled: Administration building of Department of Foreigners, Nationality, and Foreigners Affairs at Kruppstraße 16
On Wednesday, September 3, the new administration building at Kruppstraße 16 in Essen's South Quarter was officially opened by Mayor Thomas Kufen. The Department of Central Foreigners' Office, Citizenship and Foreigners' Affairs had already moved into the new premises back in May of this year.
The building, spanning over 17,300 square meters, has been rented for a period of 30 years. It accommodates a total of 453 employees and is located in the South Quarter of Essen.
Mayor Thomas Kufen expressed that administration buildings are places where the city becomes visible to its citizens. He stated that the new building at Kruppstraße 16 conveys a sense of welcome as soon as one enters, thanks to its comprehensive renovation and adaptation to modern administrative requirements.
The Central Immigration Office, Citizenship and Immigration Affairs department, and the Municipal Integration Center have all moved to the new administrative building in mid-September 2025. Visitors will now find spacious entrance areas, modern waiting areas equipped with WLAN hotspots, call monitors, and self-service terminals.
The new building features a spacious entrance area, a clearly structured service, and appropriate waiting areas. Thomas Kufen thanked all those involved in the successful implementation of the project for their great commitment.
With the new building, modern and functional conditions are being created for both citizens and employees. The new building offers a working environment that meets the high demands of the employees' daily work, featuring modern offices and functional equipment.
