Digital Identity Campaigns in Peru: Facilitating Access and Social Inclusion

In an effort to make state services more accessible, several local municipalities across Peru are organizing digital identity campaigns. These initiatives aim to facilitate citizens' access to digital identity, promote social inclusion, and reduce economic barriers in the document process. One of the key dates for these campaigns is on Wednesday, June 4.

June 4 Digital Identity Campaign Locations

In Tacna province, the Municipal District of Ciudad Nueva will host a special day to manage the electronic DNI for free. The event will take place on June 4 from 9:00 a.m. to midday at the Auditorium Ángel Alejo Tunco. The campaign is open to various groups, including 17-year-olds requesting their first identity document, newborns requiring their first registration, children and adolescents from 0 to 16 years old who need to renew their DNI, and seniors. Due to limited vacancies, it is advisable to arrive early.

In Apurimac province, the Provincial Municipality of Chincheros will carry out a new free DNIe campaign on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Municipal Auditorium, where citizens will be attended to for free from 8:00 a.m. The available services will include the conversion of conventional DNI (yellow or blue) to DNIe, the renewal of DNIe, data update, DNIe duplication, and photography included in all procedures. It is important to note that a change of address can only be made if the citizen is registered in the SISFOH of the Provincial Municipality of Chincheros.

The Municipal District of Checaupe in Cusco province has announced a free DNI campaign at the municipal auditorium on June 4. The available procedures include the delivery of DNIs processed in the previous campaign, first-time inscriptions for minors and adults, DNI renewal (photo, signature), renewal and update of data for children and adolescents, renewal, duplicates, and update of images and rectification of data, and change of address/change of civil status.

Introducing DNIe 3.0: The Most Secure Identity Document in Latin America

These itinerant campaigns coincide with the official presentation of the DNIe version 3.0, considered the most secure identity document in Latin America. The new version features 64 security elements, far surpassing its predecessor, DNIe 2.0, which had only 16. The document is made entirely of policarbonate, providing high resistance to heat and ultraviolet rays. Its main features include microscopic texts and high-resolution images, a cryptographic chip that protects personal information, a custom QR code enabling dual digital verification, holograms, and representative icons of Peru. The new DNIe 3.0 retains the image of Machu Picchu and incorporates the official isotipo of Reniec. Its validity is 10 years, as established by law no. 32237. Additionally, it is enabled for use in digital voting processes, in accordance with law no. 32270, which regulates electronic voting.

For accurate and up-to-date information on these electronic DNI campaigns, it is best to contact the relevant local authorities or the Peruvian government's official website. Local news sources or government announcements in Peru could also provide useful details.

What is the purpose of the free DNI campaigns held on June 4 in various Peruvian provinces? These campaigns facilitate access to personal-finance matters, such as obtaining or renewing a digital identity document, and promote social inclusion. Furthermore, these initiatives are in line with the introduction of DNIe 3.0, the most secure identity document in Latin America, which includes features like a cryptographic chip that protects personal information.
