OPM Launches Pathways & Recent Graduates Programs to Boost Federal Intern Hires
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has introduced two innovative programs to enhance federal intern recruitment. The Pathways Intern Talent Program and the Recent Graduates Talent Program were launched in March and July 2024 respectively, with the aim of converting more internships into permanent positions within the United States federal government.
The Pathways Intern Talent Program, launched in March, connects eligible interns with other federal agencies, increasing the likelihood of conversion to full-time employment. Agencies are encouraged to consult their USAJOBS Agency Talent Portal point of contact for specific instructions on utilising this talent program. Both programs are now accessible to agencies via the USAJOBS platform. OPM plans to demonstrate the new functionality to agency HR leaders in the near future.
The Recent Graduates Talent Program, launched in July, offers recent graduates similar opportunities to connect with other federal agencies. However, specific information about which agencies have accessed these programs since their inception is currently unavailable.
