Osnabrueck's Am Funkturm Street Reopens with Safety Upgrades and More Green Space
Construction work on Am Funkturm Street in the Schölerberg district of Osnabrueck has been completed. The city thanks residents for their patience during the renovation phase.
The entire 600-meter stretch of road was completely resurfaced to ensure safety and durability. To further enhance road safety, the street was designated as a 30 km/h zone with a right-of-way rule. Nine traffic calming narrowings were installed along the route.
The project also saw improvements in pedestrian infrastructure. The entrance area to Hauswoermannsweg was redesigned for safer crossing, and a new crossing was installed on Broeckerweg. Additionally, a marked no-parking area was created on Broeckerweg to provide extra protection for pedestrians.
In line with climate adaptation efforts, approximately 180 square meters of additional green space was created to improve the quality of the urban environment. However, not all parking spaces could be retained due to the need for sufficient space for the school bus and the night bus line N6.
The completion of the Am Funkturm Street project brings enhanced safety, improved pedestrian crossings, and increased green space to the Schölerberg district. The city expresses gratitude to residents for their understanding throughout the construction process.
