Violating Quarantine in Kazakhstan: A Breakdown of the Cost

From the beginning of the year, up to May 31, monitoring groups conducted a whopping 94,788 inspections, scrutinizing 585,343 facilities, according to "Otyrar".

Unfortunately, over 16,000 facilities were found flouting quarantine regulations. The biggest offenders? Enterprises and business facilities in the East Kazakhstan, Turkestan, Almaty regions, and the cities of Almaty and Shymkent proved to be the most non-compliant.

The primary violations uncovered during this rampant disobedience included operating facilities prohibited during the quarantine period, flagrant disregard for the imposed restrictions, and the audacious hosting of mass events.

As a result, case files for 300 offenders were forwarded to court, and the operations of 76 business facilities were suspended.

A staggering 9,100 small to medium-sized businesses and 6,800 individuals found themselves in hot water, receiving a hefty fine for defying quarantine rules. The total amount of these fines surpassed an astounding 1.2 billion tenge.

However, it's essential to note that the specific fines in different regions of Kazakhstan, like East Kazakhstan, Turkestan, and Almaty, remain unclear. In various countries, including those in Central Asia, penalties for violating quarantine measures can differ by jurisdiction, tend to be established by national or local health authorities, and usually form part of broader public health laws designed to control the spread of infectious diseases and enforce health regulations. For the most accurate and timely information regarding fines in specific regions, it's advisable to consult local health department resources or legal authorities in those areas.
