Wage Dispute Escalates Between ver.di and Deutsche Post AG
The union workers of Deutsche Post AG are putting the heat on their employers with expanded warning strikes taking place at sorting centers in Bremen, Hannover, and other locations. The employees' frustration comes from the employers' inadequate wage offer in the third round of negotiations, leading to potential real wage losses.
Thomas Warner, head of the postal services department in Lower Saxony-Bremen, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current offer, stating, "The offer presented by the employers is completely insufficient and would result in noticeable real wage losses for employees if accepted. The expanded warning strikes show that employees in the workplace expect much more from their employer."
As the wage negotiations continue, ver.di is demanding a linear seven percent wage increase for around 170,000 union members, trainees, and dual students. They are also requesting three additional vacation days for union members and trainees as well as an extra vacation day for ver.di members.
According to recent reports, strikes may not be limited to just one sector. ver.di has been actively fighting for wage increases and better benefits in other industries, such as aviation, public transport, and logistics. However, no specific updates regarding an ongoing wage dispute between Deutsche Post AG and ver.di have been reported as of June 2025.
In past years, wage negotiations and strikes led by ver.di at Deutsche Post have typically involved demands for inflation-adjusted pay rises and improved working conditions. These requests are often met with lower offers from management, resulting in conciliation or increased strike action. However, no active strikes or finalized agreements are currently documented.
As the situation develops, more updates related to wage disputes at Deutsche Post AG are likely to be reported by German labor news outlets or the union itself. In the meantime, employees continue to voice their discontent with the current offer and push for more fair compensation.

- As ver.di continues to push for wage increases and better conditions in various industries, such as aviation, public transport, and logistics, they are also demanding a linear seven percent wage increase from the finance industry heavyweight, Deutsche Post AG, in the ongoing wage negotiations.
- With recent reports of expanding warning strikes across the Finance, Aerospace, and Postal Services sectors, it's clear that ver.di is determined to seek fair compensation not only for employees in the postal industry but also in related industries that rely on their services, such as finance and aerospace.
