OVHcloud Fortifies Web Security with Quantum-Generated SSL Certificates
OVHcloud is strengthening its security measures by introducing quantum-generated SSL certificates. This move aims to fortify web encryption keys and safeguard the confidentiality of data exchanged between servers and clients.
The new process utilises quantum computing to produce unpredictable random numbers, pre-empting potential threats from advancements in computing power, including quantum computers.
OVHcloud is rolling out these enhanced certificates to nearly five million hosted websites by the end of October 2025. The Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) process is integrated into the SSL certificate renewal and creation for OVHcloud's web clients. The certificates are automatically issued by Let's Encrypt and are compatible with mainstream web browsers, requiring no additional action from clients or end-users.
By the end of October 2025, all of OVHcloud's managed websites are expected to be secured with these quantum-generated SSL certificates, at no extra cost to clients. This initiative underscores OVHcloud's commitment to staying ahead of emerging security challenges and maintaining the trust of its client base.
