Pforzheimer Economic Prize marks its anniversary celebration

The Tenth Honors Evening for the Economy took place in the Grand Hall of the CongressCentrum in Pforzheim, organised by the Eigenbetrieb Wirtschaft and Stadtmarketing Pforzheim (WSP). The event, which has become a fixed part of Pforzheim's calendar, featured a series of talks, performances, and award ceremonies, attracting a diverse crowd of local entrepreneurs, political figures, and cultural enthusiasts.

The formal awards ceremony began with a talk by Elmar Theveßen, head of ZDF studio in Washington since 2019, on "The USA in a Changing World". Theveßen, a renowned journalist and correspondent for the German public broadcaster ZDF, shared his insights on the state of democracy in the United States, the country's pursuit of technological dominance, and the potential role of a united Europe as a counterweight in this evolving global dynamic.

Following the talk, three entrepreneurs were awarded in the categories "Innovation and Idea", "Brand and Image", and "Lifetime Achievement". Marcel Hanselmann, IT-driven specialist insurance broker and Managing Director of ease GmbH, won in the category "Innovation and Idea". Oliver Arres, owner and Managing Director of Autosattlerei Arres, was honoured in the category "Brand and Image". Horst Lenk, long-standing owner of Mode Lenk GbR and Honorary President of the Baden-Württemberg Trade Association, received the award for "Lifetime Achievement". Each winner was honoured with a three-minute film and an entertaining laudation.

The prizes were presented by Mayor Peter Boch and Oliver Reitz, the Director of WSP. After the ceremony, guests mingled in a relaxed atmosphere, many continuing their interactions well into the late evening in the CCP foyer. The evening concluded with a performance by Portuguese singer Silvia Dias, who sang soulful classics of US music legend Whitney Houston, accompanied by her band and a dance ensemble.

The economic talk was moderated by Markus Brock, and the event also featured a talk on global connections influencing local economic conditions in Pforzheim. Mayor Peter Boch described the event as an evening that sheds light on impressive achievements, exemplary personalities, and successful work in the mid-tier.
