The A100 motorway, a vital artery in Berlin, is experiencing increased traffic congestion, with traffic jams now a common occurrence. However, the future of the A100 motorway extension is shrouded in uncertainty, according to the Autobahn GmbH.

In a recent report, the Autobahn GmbH revealed that 74 important planning projects, including the expansion and new construction of highways, are at risk of losing secure construction rights unless the federal budget is increased in the coming years. Among these projects are the new construction of the Uttrichshausen and Sechshelden viaducts on A7 and A45 respectively, and the reconstruction of the Offenbach interchange.

Unfortunately, the A100 extension, which was previously included in the financing and realization plan, is no longer guaranteed to have building rights secured by 2029, according to the Autobahn GmbH's estimate. The extension is not expected to have a specific timetable in the current planning, and is not included in the updated version of the table of projects for which "secure building rights" are expected by 2029.

The A100 extension's construction is contingent upon an increase in the federal budget, the Autobahn GmbH's paper suggests. However, given the significant budget constraints of the federal government, it is uncertain whether the federal budget will be increased.

The urban motorway A100 will not be extended in the current decade, according to estimates by the federal motorway company. Moreover, the A100 extension is not expected to be started in the current decade, and the 17th section of the A100 has been downgraded in importance.

These developments have led to a decrease in the probability of the A100 motorway extension being built in the foreseeable future. The German Press Agency has access to documents from Autobahn GmbH regarding the A100, shedding light on the challenges facing the project.

The A100 motorway extension has been relegated to "further important planning projects", without a specific timetable. This news comes as a blow to commuters and businesses in Berlin, who rely on the A100 for efficient travel and commerce.

As the situation unfolds, the Autobahn GmbH continues to advocate for increased funding to secure the construction rights for these important projects, including the A100 extension. Only time will tell if these efforts will bear fruit and bring relief to the congested A100 in Berlin.
