PM Modi Inaugurates India's First Automobile In-Plant Railway Siding
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated India's first automobile in-plant railway siding at Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited. The facility was inaugurated virtually by Kenichi Ayukawa, the managing director of Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited.
The new railway siding aims to significantly reduce the carbon footprint in logistics, decrease fossil fuel consumption, and alleviate road congestion. Once fully operational, it can dispatch a substantial 300,000 cars annually to 15 destinations across India.
The inauguration marks a significant step towards sustainable transportation in the automobile industry. The facility will connect Suzuki's plant directly to the railway network, enabling more efficient and eco-friendly transportation of vehicles.
The Gujarat railway siding facility is expected to bring substantial environmental and operational benefits. It will reduce the company's reliance on road transport, lower emissions, and improve overall efficiency. With an annual capacity of 300,000 cars, it will serve as a model for other automobile manufacturers looking to adopt more sustainable logistics practices.
