Police authorities and the City of Stuttgart announce the arrival of fresh personnel in a joint press statement: New hires introduced

In a solemn ceremony on April 1, 2025, 73 new police and criminal commissioners swore an oath to uphold the constitution of Baden-Württemberg, marking their official entry into the Stuttgart Police force. The newcomers, a mix of local and non-local recruits, received a warm welcome from Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper and Police President Markus Eisenbraun [1].

The Stuttgart Police Headquarters Press Office, a part of the Baden-Württemberg Police, is responsible for press inquiries related to the Stuttgart Police Headquarters. The Press Office can be reached during office hours, which are Monday to Friday, 06:30 AM to 06:00 PM, by phone at 0711 8990-3333 or via email at [email protected]. Outside of office hours, inquiries can be made by phone at 0711 8990-1111 or via email at [email protected] [2].

The new officers are joining the Stuttgart Police at a time when they face increasing challenges. Violence against emergency personnel is on the rise, with Stuttgart reporting an increase in violent attacks on police officers in 2023, resulting in 809 cases and 337 officers injured [3]. Efforts like the "Respect" campaign aim to raise public awareness and improve respectful treatment of these frontline workers [3].

In addition to the rising incidence of violence, new officers must also navigate the high living costs and competitive housing market that characterise Stuttgart, a major German city. While specific data on housing or cost of living for Stuttgart police officers in 2025 was not found, it is generally recognised that these factors can pose potential financial challenges [4].

The new officers are also expected to participate in joint emergency preparedness exercises with host nation and allied agencies to ensure effective response capabilities [5]. This highlights the need for strong inter-agency cooperation skills among the new recruits.

To help new colleagues feel both professionally and personally at home in Stuttgart, Police President Markus Eisenbraun emphasised the importance of newcomers identifying with the city. He mentioned that the diverse leisure opportunities in Stuttgart are a compensation for the challenges young colleagues may face with housing and cost of living [1].

The new officers were also given a city tour after the swearing-in ceremony for a first insight into Stuttgart. For more information about the Stuttgart Police, visit their website at www.polizei-bw.de. For press releases from the Stuttgart Police Headquarters, visit www.presseportal.de.

The Stuttgart Police Headquarters Press Office can provide further information and updates on the Stuttgart Police. It is worth noting that 68 police officers successfully completed their studies for the higher police service and are starting their careers with the Stuttgart Police. Additionally, there were 9 transfers of police officers from other police headquarters, and 1 transfer from another federal state [6].
