Pomega & Jebla Group Form $400M Battery Venture in Mexico
Pomega and Jebla Group have joined forces in a $400 million partnership to manufacture and distribute battery storage systems in Mexico. The venture aims to serve the domestic market and potentially export to North America.
The partnership will initially focus on importing and selling storage systems for industrial self-consumption. The initial investment of $400 million will be used for distributing these systems.
The first phase of the project involves building a battery assembly plant in 2023. Cell production is expected to commence between 2027 and 2029. Kontrolmatik, a company specialising in control systems or automation related to LPG technology, is involved in the partnership alongside the LPG company Jebla.
The partnership between Pomega and Jebla Group is set to boost Mexico's battery storage industry. With a focus on the domestic market and potential North American exports, the venture is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region.
